Private AI for business

Private AI for business: own it, don't rent it.

Private AI is AI that runs on infrastructure you own and control, rather than access you rent from a vendor's platform. The data, the keys, the integrations and the logic stay with your business, so you can run it, change it and move it without going back to anyone. It is the difference between an asset you hold and a dependency you pay for forever.

What private AI actually means

Most AI a business could buy right now is rented. You pay for a seat on a vendor's platform, or a tool that lives behind their login, and the model, the prompts and your data all sit with them. It might work well, but you are a tenant. Stop paying and the thing your business now relies on stops with it.

Private AI is the opposite. The same capability, built to run on your own accounts and your own infrastructure. The prompts refined against your real cases, the integrations into the systems you already use, the workflow logic, the credentials: all yours. If we stop working together, you keep the lot and can run it yourself or hand it to another developer. This is AI you actually own, not access you rent.

Private ChatGPT and private LLMs for companies

When people ask for a private ChatGPT for their company, or a private LLM for their business, they usually mean three things: an assistant as capable as the tools everyone knows, grounded on their own documents, and set up so their questions and data are not quietly improving someone else's product.

Your accounts, your keys

The system runs on your own model accounts and infrastructure. You pay the underlying usage directly and at cost, with no marked-up platform fee sitting on top.

Grounded on your data

It answers from your documents and systems, not the open internet, using retrieval over your own content. It stays current as your material changes.

Your data stays yours

What flows through it runs under terms you choose, on accounts you control. You decide what is retained and where, which for regulated or sensitive work is often the whole question.

Model-agnostic

Because you hold the keys, the underlying model is a choice, not a life sentence. If a better or cheaper model appears, you can move to it, usually with a small change rather than a rebuild.

How I build it

I work as one senior operator, AI-leveraged, and everything lands in your accounts as it is built. There is no junior team to hand off to and no platform of mine to keep you tied in, so ownership is not a feature bolted on at the end. It falls out of there being nothing in the middle. The honest caveat is that usage costs are real and scale with use, so it is worth sizing that before you build rather than after. The difference with owning it is that you see exactly what it costs, in close to real time, and can tune it.

Private AI is one way I work as an AI implementation consultant. If you want to know what to build first, start with a free First AI System Recommendation or the fixed-price AI Readiness Assessment.

Common questions

What is private AI?

Private AI is AI that runs on infrastructure a business owns and controls, rather than access rented from a vendor's platform. The data, the keys, the integrations and the logic stay with the business, so it can run, change and move the system without depending on the vendor.

What is a private ChatGPT or private LLM for a company?

An AI assistant built on a large language model that runs on your own accounts and keys, grounded on your own documents, where your questions and data are not used to improve someone else's product. The capability of a tool like ChatGPT, on infrastructure you control and can keep private.

Is private AI more secure for business data?

It gives you more control, which is most of what security means in practice. Your data flows through accounts you own under terms you choose, rather than a vendor's platform, and you decide what is retained and where. For regulated or sensitive work, that control is often the difference between being able to use AI and not.

How much does private AI cost to run?

You pay the genuine third-party costs directly and at cost: the model usage, hosting and any messaging. There is no marked-up platform fee on top. Usage scales with use, but because the accounts are yours you see exactly what it costs and can tune it down.

Can private AI run on my own data?

Yes. The usual pattern is retrieval over your own documents and systems, so the AI answers from your content rather than the open internet, with the data held in your infrastructure. It stays current as your documents change, and it is yours to keep.
